Confederation of Indian Textile Industry's Global Textile Conclave (GTC2021)
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), one of the leading industry chambers of the textile and clothing sector of India, the second edition of "Global Textiles Conclave (GTC2021)" took place on Wednesday 24th & Thursday, 25th February 2021 on a Virtual Platform. Sponsored by the Indian Government, it is one of the largest and most important Textile & Apparel Industry events, and it was an honor to be involved.
Diving into the digitalisation of the industry, topics such as how digital technology can be used to help to sell fashion, connecting the point of sale to the supply chain, how new technologies can help to drastically reduce overproduction and waste in the fashion industry, and tips for those just starting out in the industry were covered.
The theme of this Conclave was "The India Factor: Transforming Global Textiles & Apparels in 2021-30", and it saw Gherzi's Navdeep Singh Sodhi moderating a discussion between Dr. Deborah Elms, Founder & Executive Director of the Asian Trade Centre, Dr. Suresh Babu, Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, Dr. Saikat Sinha Roy, Professor & Coordinator of the Centre for Advanced Studies, Principal Scientist of the RJ JUECON Project on SEZs and Inequality at the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University
